
Initiative has been taken by CIL to close unviable mines incurring heavy losses considering all aspects such as Infusion of Technology, Amalgamation with neighboring mine and Conversion of UG mines into OC mines to make the mines viable and to redeploy the manpower from these closed mines to other UG mines/OC mines gainfully.
Accordingly, production has been suspended from 43 mines in the FY 2017-18, 32 mines in FY 2018-19 and 7 mines in the FY 2019-20, in total 82 mines.
