Brief Introduction of Clearing & Forwarding Division, CIL

The primary function of C&F Division is to provide logistic services for imported consignments imported through Ocean / Air mode pertaining to supply of Equipment, Spares and Consumables against orders placed by CIL & its subsidiaries to ultimate consignees, complying all statutory requirements.

The activities involved in import of equipment, spares and consumables against Purchase Orders placed by CIL and its subsidiaries on FOB / CFR / CIP basis being handled by this Division are :-

Import on FOB Basis

Freight Finalization (Sea / Air), arranging Vessel / Containers / Cargo Liners, arranging Insurance Coverage, filing Bill of Entry with Customs Department, Payment of the statutory Customs Duties, Arranging Shore Handling & appropriate lifting and loading equipment, arranging Delivery Order, Custom clearance, Port clearance, payment of Port duties, Complying all Statutory formalities, Taking the delivery of imported consignments, arranging Inland transportation, Deployment of Escorts (if any), Delivery to the ultimate consignee.

Import on CFR Basis

Arranging Insurance Coverage, filing Bill of Entry with Customs Department, Payment of the statutory Customs Duties, Arranging Shore Handling & appropriate lifting and loading equipment, arranging Delivery Order, Custom clearance, Port clearance, payment of Port duties, Complying all Statutory formalities, Taking the delivery of imported consignments, arranging Inland transportation, Deployment of Escorts (if any), Delivery to the ultimate consignee.

Import on CIP Basis

Examination of checklist forwarded by the supplier/their appointed CHA for correctness of entries in accordance with the terms of supply order and shipping documents provided and Payment of Customs Duty.

In addition to above, for import of Equipment which qualify for concessional duty benefit under Project Import Registration (PIR) 1986, activities like arranging Essentiality Certificate from Ministry of Coal, Registration of Project at Customs Department and Project Finalization with Customs Department after the commissioning of the equipment at respective projects (ultimate consignees) are also done by C&F Division.
