Coal Minister lays Foundation Stone for Coal India’s new Office Complex

Shri Sriprakash Jaiswal, Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C) for Coal; Statistics & Programme Implementation, Government of India, today laid the foundation stone for the proposed office complex of Coal India Limited (CIL), the coal mining public sector giant, at Rajarhat, Kolkata. The official ceremony was attended by Shri Alok Perti, Additional Secretary (Coal), Government of India; Shri Partha S Bhattacharyya, Chairman, Coal India Limited and Directors of CIL.




CIL has already entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Building and Construction Company (NBCC) Limited, a public sector unit, for construction of its state-of –art office complex of CIL, at an estimated cost of Rs.126 crores, on a 15 acre plot at New Town, the fast expanding city periphery. The official complex will however come up in 5 acre area.

The building designed to accommodate about 900 employees measures approximately 269,000 Square Feet in Ground plus eight storied configuration. The proposed complex shall be aesthetically appealing with all amenities of a modern office complex.

The proposed Complex shall also house “Martyrs Memorial” in memory of coal miners who laid down their lives in their revered duty in the service of the Nation. Names of the miners who have lost their lives in mining accidents shall be engraved in stone as a mark of respect and recognition of their supreme sacrifice.
